Certifications on the Ibaan Regiment's Attachment to US Army Units

The Ibaan Regiment was one of many units of the Fil-American Irregular Troops (FAIT), a large guerrilla group founded by the former US Army officer Hugh Straughn, that was operating in Batangas during the Japanese Occupation. It was commanded by one Sixto Guerra. In these documents1 are certifications of the Ibaan Regiments attachments to the 188th Para-Glider Infantry unit of the United States Army.

1. This certifies that the members of the Ibaan Regiment (Batangas Guerrillas), listed herein under Lt. Col. Sixto M. Guerra, had been attached to this unit during its operation in the Batangas area, from March 18 to April 25, 1945. This guerrilla unit did active patrolling, enforced road blocks, guarded perimeters and participated in campaigns against the Japanese in Lapo-lapo and Santo Niño. It had also been of great help in maintaining peace and order in and around Ibaan, Batangas.

This certifies that the members of the Ibaan Regiment (Batangas Guerrillas) listed herein under the command of Lt. Col. Sixto M Guerra, having been attached to the 188th Para-Glider Infantry during its operation in the Batangas area, from March 18 to April 25, 1945, operated with Company “A” 127th Abn Engr Bn., in construction of bypasses, roads and bridges; security guides for reconnaissance units; security for construction groups; and guards for bridges, fords and bypasses. This unit also held the town of Ibaan from the Japanese and prevented destruction of the town prior to the arrival of American troops.
