The town of Bauan in the Province of Batangas is among the oldest, having been founded as a pueblo by Augustinian missionaries along the shores of Taal Lake. It had to relocate away from the lake likely because of the violent activity of Taal Volcano.

In the present day, Bauan is considered a 1st income class municipality and is considered the “most industrialized” municipality of Batangas by the DILG. It has total land area of 5,331 hectares and a 2015 population of 91,297. It can be reached from Manila via the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road through the City of Batangas and the town of San Pascual.
