Documents Related to Cos A, B, C and D 38th Regt PQOG's Application for Recognition

[TRANSCRIPTION]

The President Quezon’s Own Guerrillas or PQOG was one of the large guerrilla organizations that operated in Southern Luzon during the Japanese occupation and into the liberation of Batangas. It had many affiliated outfits in Batangas, many of which filed for official recognition by the United States Army that they were elements of the Philippine Army in the service of the U.S. Armed forces during the liberation. Among these were Companies A, B, C and D of the 38th Regiment, 35th Division, I Corps of the PQOG. In this page are transcriptions1 of a collection of documents, some originally handwritten, submitted to the United States Army in support of Companies A, B, C and D’s application for official recognition.

So far, I have no doubt with this person. It is up to you to investigate him further because he has been from Suloc, the dwelling place of the Japs at present.

April 9. 1945

TO THE HIGHEST COMMANDER OF THE CIC:

I have the honor to inform you that reports from our intelligence that there are 200 Filipinos provable Macapilis came down from the mountain now stationed at barrio Liing [probably, typing blurred], Tiaong, Tayabas. Because of the distance and we are outnumbered, we could not pursue the enemy.
Reports of civilians coming from the place where these Macapili had stayed said that after massacring numbers of innocent civilians and babies, they looted their properties such as food, clothes and animals.
Substantial proofs are these unmade cloths and barrios numbers of made clothes in our headquarters bearing names of different persons. Dalmacia Alad, wife of Dalmacio Bueno, now in your headquarters, testified that these clothes were brought by her husband after looting several places.

Very respectfully,

[Sgd.] Vivencio Reyes, Major
Regimental Commander
38th Infantry Regiment
