Above, a colorized version of.a photograph extracted from the 1904 book “The Story of the Lopez Family: A Page from the History of the War in the Philippines,” written by Canning Eyot and published in Boston, Massachusetts. The book is about the prominent Lopez family of Balayan in the late Spanish colonial era and early American Era. The photo was captioned “Some members of the Women's Red Cross Society of Lipa, Batangas (Rehearsal for a concert in aid of funds).”
